GUIDE FOR AUTHORS

Manuscripts should be submitted by one of the authors of the manuscript through the online http://www.scopemed.org/?jid=83 The files are submitted only MS Word (.doc, .docx). Only online submissions are accepted to facilitate rapid publication and minimize administrative costs. The submitting author takes responsibility for the paper during submission and peer review.

Terms of Submission

Papers must be submitted on the understanding that they have not been published elsewhere and are not currently under consideration by another journal published by any other publisher. The submitting author is responsible for ensuring that the article's publication has been approved by all the other coauthors. It is also the authors' responsibility to ensure that the articles emanating from a particular institution are submitted with the approval of the necessary institution. Only an acknowledgment from the editorial office officially establishes the date of receipt. Further correspondence and proofs will be sent to the author(s) before publication unless otherwise indicated. It is a condition of submission of a paper that the authors permit editing of the paper for readability. All enquiries concerning the publication of accepted papers should be addressed to seajcrr@gmail.com.

Style and Language

The Southeast Asian Journal of case report and reviews (SEAJCRR) only accept manuscripts written in English language. Manuscripts with errors in language will be returned to the authors for corrections before sending them for editorial review. The manuscript should be submitted as a Microsoft Word document (.doc, docx.).

SEAJCRR  will publish case reports, case series and review articles, original article.

Case Reports

Case Reports must provide an original description of a previously unreported entity or report, new presentation of a known disease or a new perspective of case which poses a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. Case Reports should include a comprehensive review of similar cases and state the differences between present case and the previous cases. Case reports should be accompanied by clinical, radiological and pathologic images.

Case Series

The Case Series section of SEAJCRR reports a series of 2-6 similar cases. The cases should be unusual and give a unique perspective on disease presentation, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment and treatment side effects. The cases should address a challenging diagnostic and/or therapeutic problem with possible solutions to help clinician's in managing these cases much more effectively. Case series must be accompanied with a comprehensive review of literature.

Review Articles

Review Articles should be on a topic which is of interest to a wide readership. Review articles should have a comprehensive coverage of a topic in a clear and simple language with representative figures and images. A abstract must accompany the article. Authors can submit the articles directly to SEAJCRR.

Peer Review

All manuscripts are subject to peer review and are expected to meet standards of academic/Clinical excellence. Submissions will be considered by an editor in-chief and—if not rejected right away—by peer-reviewers, whose identities will remain anonymous to the authors.

Publication fees

The Southeast Asian Journal of Case Reports and review is an open access journal. The Publication fees are nominal (Rs 1000 INR per case report, Review Article, Rs 2000 for original article  ). This Open access charges allow publishers to make the published material available for free to all interested online visitors.

Abstract

The manuscript should contain an abstract. The abstract should be self-contained and citation-free and should not exceed 250-300 words.Please do not use abbreviations or references in the abstract. The abstract should be structured into three sections and should make clear how the case report adds to the medical literature:

INTRODUCTION: An introduction about why this case is important and needs to be reported. Please include information on whether this is the first report of this kind in the literature. CASE PRESENTATION: Brief details of what the patient(s) presented with, including the patient's age, sex and ethnic background.CONCLUSION: A brief conclusion of what the reader should learn from the case report and what the clinical impact will be. Is it an original case report of interest to a particular clinical speciality of medicine or will it have a broader clinical impact across medicine? Please include information on how it will significantly advance our knowledge of a particular disease etiology or drug mechanism.

KEYWORDS: Three to ten keywords representing the main content of the article.

Introduction

This section should be concise and to the point with no subheadings.

The Introduction section should explain the background of the case, including the disorder, usual presentation and progression and an explanation of the presentation if it is a new disease. If it is a case discussing an adverse drug reactions or drugs interaction or any new uses of old drug the introduction should give details of the drug's common use and any previously reported side effects. It should also include a brief literature review.

Case Presentation

Give here all the relevant details about the case(s).
Describe the patient's present and past medical history; presenting symptoms and signs; results of laboratory tests, description of any treatment or intervention.
Use text, figures and tables to present and illustrate the case.
Do not repeat data in text and tables.
Do not write figure legends in the text. List them separately after the references.
Give numeric results as absolute numbers and derivatives (percentages).
If statistical methods are used, mention their names after the statistical results.

Discussion

Give here a comprehensive review of literature.
Describe the current knowledge about the disease, its known presentations and management.
Describe how your case is different from previous reported cases and how your observations will significantly advance the current knowledge of the disease etiology, pathogenesis and management.
Do not repeat the details given in the Introduction or the Case Report section.

Conclusions

Conclusion should highlight the main points learnt from the case in a short paragraph of 3-4 sentences.

Acknowledgments

All acknowledgments (if any) should be included at the very end of the paper before the references and may include supporting grants, presentations, and so forth.

References

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the information in each reference is complete and accurate. All references must be numbered consecutively and citations of references in text should be identified using numbers in square brackets (e.g., “as discussed by Smith9]”; “as discussed elsewhere9,10]”). All references should be cited within the text; otherwise, these references will be automatically removed.

Preparation of Figures

Upon submission of an article, authors are supposed to include all figures and tables in the PDF file of the manuscript. Figures and tables should not be submitted in separate files. If the article is accepted, authors will be asked to provide the source files of the figures. Each figure should be supplied in a separate electronic file. All figures should be cited in the paper in a consecutive order. Figures should be supplied in either vector art formats (Illustrator, EPS, WMF, FreeHand, CorelDraw, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) or bitmap formats (Photoshop, TIFF, GIF, JPEG, etc.). Bitmap images should be of 300 dpi resolution at least unless the resolution is intentionally set to a lower level for scientific reasons. If a bitmap image has labels, the image and labels should be embedded in separate layers.

Preparation of Tables

Tables should be cited consecutively in the text. Every table must have a descriptive title and if numerical measurements are given, the units should be included in the column heading. Vertical rules should not be used

Proofs

Corrected proofs must be returned to the publisher within 2-3 days of receipt. The publisher will do everything possible to ensure prompt publication. It will therefore be appreciated if the manuscripts and figures conform from the outset to the style of the journal.

Copyright

Open Access authors retain the copyrights of their papers, and all open access articles are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution license, which permits unrestricted use, distribution and reproduction in any medium, provided that the original work is properly cited.

Disclosure Policy

A competing interest exists when professional judgment concerning the validity of research is influenced by a secondary interest, such as financial gain. We require that our authors reveal all possible conflicts of interest in their submitted manuscripts.

Consent

As a condition of submitting a case report, authors must be able to provide written confirmation that the patient described in the case report has given their informed consent for the case report to be published. The editorial office may request copies of the consent documentation at any time.
